Workaholics Anonymous

This is my first session of Workaholics Anonymous. I’ve been so busy with work that I forgot to show up for months. I had to admit to myself I had a problem.

I love the grit in working. The tasks itself are menial, but I understand my drive, my passions, and my goals while at work. I get to be a functional member of society and participate to the world around me.

“Hello everyone. My name is Brian and I’m a workaholic.” I sigh a deep breath; partially because I have a problem, a little bit of the exhaustion that drove me to this point. “I have a bad relationship to my job, and I’ve tied my worthiness with my output. I am on this journey to learn and rebalance the control that work has on my life.”

It’s not easy being here, when I know my desk is filling up with documents that need actioning. I wish I was working instead of socialising at this Workaholics Anonymous group session.

Everything is pointless.
