“Breathe in, breathe out. Inhale, exhale. Move right hand to scratch nose. Scratch nose. Hand released to relax beside the hip. Inhale, exhale. Move legs three paces forward. Inhale, exhale. Move arms opposite to leg movements, with left arm matching right arm, and right leg matching left arm in forward moving. Lift foot off ground, inhale, place foot down, exhale. Continue this pattern of breathing in and out, and the pattern of moving your body in order to keep running.”

“Close eyes. Keep them closed for the next eight hours. Dream. Think about the softness of the bed you are lying in. Make a mental note to wash sheets tomorrow. Make note of lunch at Draeov’s with your brother. Damn, now stop thinking. Sleep. Stay still.”
