Chaos in Wake

The world burns all around me in chaos, chaos I caused. I stare off into the distance, lightly laughing. I did all this. I smell the blood of my next enemy, just across the street from me. That oblivious freak standing there. I greet him the way I do with all my victims: “I could kill you, but I don’t ‘cos it’s frowned upon in all fifty states. Having said that-” my knife is already deeply impaled into the man’s chest by now “-I’m going to enjoy this!”

The knife is delicately removed from his chest leaving a gaping hole in his body. He slumps to the ground with a harsh thud and his breaths get shorter the longer he sits there. The street slowly turns crimson and stained with the last of his life.

I walk away pleased with myself. A giant grin spreads across my face that I have no shame in hiding.
