Fading Into the Crowd

It is so easy to fade away into a crowd. We all fade in and out of existence. Some call it standing in a crowd or being a stranger to those around us. We live invisible lives in the public eye but it doesn’t exclude our private lives. Friends forget to call back. Family forget to include us in their plans. Every time we deny a part of ourselves, we fade into the background. Not even letting our own colours illuminate the world around us. It is so incredibly easy to fade away.

Time makes it more difficult when we fade away in our last breath or when the world moves on in content without our presence. We make others disappear and they return the favour. Life is so misunderstood and no one has ever witnessed the entire existence of a person and every little thing that has formed them. We walk by and gaze and the parts we can see, writing our own narratives about that person’s life. It is so easy to fade when being judged on our decisions; we want to fade and shrink away to avoid the embarrassment of who we are.
