Long Story Short…

Long story short is ironic as you usually get the longer version of the story with bonus features.

I catch myself doing it too. I say “essentially” and then over explain myself. Rambling is in our genetic makeup, I believe. I don’t have the science to back it up myself, but it’s what makes this so true. Long story short has backstories to every character involved and every detail of the event.

For example, I went on this date with a really pretty girl. Long story short, we met at college and we were in the same class twelve years ago. I recently came across her while getting my morning coffee and we started chatting. Almost like no time had passed at all. She looked beautiful back then, but my, she is still as attractive now. I think she takes pride in her skincare routine. She’s been married and divorced before and I’ve never really had a long term relationship. We got talking and exchanged phone numbers, and we’ve caught up a few times since. Her laugh is adorable and makes me smile like the big dork I am. I learn that she works at an accounting firm across the road from the coffee shop and she lives across town, maybe taking her 40 minutes to get to work each day. Long story short… I’ve done it again, haven’t I?
